The Danger of A Single Story

Maria from Tinlids recently posted this Ted Talk on her blog. Chimamanda Adichie talks about the danger of a single story and how important it is to have many different voices collected in our literature. She makes a very funny point about stereotypes in writing. After reading her book, someone had said to her how awful it was that all Nigerian men were abusers and wife beaters. Adichie responds that she had just read American Psycho and did not assume that all American men were murderous serial killers. As she so eloquently puts it "the consequence of a single story robs us of our dignity".
